Silva Construction Shares Their Top Advices to Homeowners Beginning Remodeling

SAN PEDRO, CA: Silva Construction (, a construction and home remodeling company in Southern California, has been working with homeowners interested in remodeling their homes for over 40 years. Recently, the company issued some of their top recommendations for a homeowner looking to remodel, including on advice on how to get started and some of the things to watch out for to ensure everything goes smoothly.

How does a homeowner begin to plan a large remodel? This was the question posed to Dave Silva, co-owner of Silva Construction. Here’s what he had to say:

“You have to know what steps to take at the start. It’s important to start with a vision of how you want your home to end up looking. You probably have a general concept of what you want, but getting more specific is the next step. List out your top must-haves that will define what you want to get at the end of the remodel. You can also look through magazines for inspiration that will help you visualize your end goal.

“Another point you will want to define at the beginning is your budget. It’s important to be realistic with it and work out a budget that works for you. The good point about this is that most of the time remodeling can result in an appreciable increase of the value of the house, so this can be an investment for your family.

“It is highly recommended you contact a contractor at the beginning. I’m not just saying that because we are contractors. It is an important step that can help you work out how your budget is going to work for the renovations (and recommend how you can actually reduce the overall costs). An experienced contractor can work with you to help you realize how you can make your vision for your remodel a reality. With these points in mind you can start taking forward steps to begin your home remodeling.”
